“Who You Are” is Optional

"Who you are" is a collection of thoughts about yourself.

Very little is set in stone.

Our eye color, our family of origin, our shoe size (though that can change too) may be part of "who we are."

But there's quite a bit that is optional.

If you like how you have defined yourself, that is Awesome Sauce. Keep going.

However, there may be some ways that you have defined yourself that you would like to change.

And you can.

It's starts with knowing that you can.

These are ways that one might define oneself, in a way that isn't serving their creativity:

  • I'm too realistic in my work. (That's just how I am.)

  • I keep going back to the same way of painting (so I'm stuck with that).

  • I'm easily distracted. (I don't have the focus to create the work I want to create.)

  • I can't decide what to create. (There must be something wrong with me.)

  • I have to be inspired in order to create (so there's nothing I can do until inspiration hits).

If there are parts of "who you are" that aren't serving you, you can create a new version of "who you are."
