CRITIQUE WEEK:
January 25 - 29
Artwork Submission Guidelines
Deadline for submission of artwork: Sunday, January 24 at 12pm PT
Email your images to: art@createanyway.today.
Submit up to two 2D or 3D pieces such as drawings, paintings, sculpture, or mixed media works including textile arts (however, no works that are solely photography).
Artwork may be in any style, with any subject matter (from representational to abstract).
It is suggested that the artwork submitted be a work that you are “stuck” on or that you don’t know what to do with next, rather than being in a finished work. However, it is not required that the piece be in progress or unfinished.
You are welcome to submit any work that was not previously selected for critique. You may also re-submit a piece that was re-worked based on a prior critique that was given.
Please do not submit artwork that has blurry, non-focused photography.
Do not photograph your artwork through glass or plexiglas.
Avoid glare and bright or dark spots (shadows) on your artwork.
Crop the photo to the exact outline of the drawing, painting or artwork so all that is seen is the artwork itself (with no background, frame or other objects showing). If your piece is an irregular shape, please photograph it on a solid background.
Submit your artwork rotated to the correct orientation (i.e., if the image was a mountain and sky, the sky should be at the top of the frame -- not on the right or left side or on the bottom of the image. This may occur particularly when you take an image of a horizontal piece by turning the camera sideways.)
The artwork as shown in the image should not be "warped" (i.e., the top edge of the piece appearing wider or thinner than the bottom edge, when in fact they are equal in width). This "warping" is often caused by the camera (especially a cell phone camera) not being parallel to the artwork surface.
Submit a high-quality jpeg, png or tiff file of approx. 3-20 MB, with the longest dimension about 2500 px (i.e, an image with dimensions like these: 2500 px by 1800 px).
Artwork file size is where we see the most errors. Please take care to read the above bullet point about file size and make sure your image files meet these guidelines.
Include title, media, and dimensions in your artwork submission email. Additionally, if there is anything you want to say about the pieces, your topic and/or theme, please do so.
You may not submit updated or new versions of images of your artwork after your initial submission (i.e., you work on the piece in the meantime and then want to send the most recent version of your painting). Only your original two images will be considered for critique.
During the live critique, your voice will be heard and you may choose whether your face will be seen.
By submitting your work for critique, you give your full consent for the recorded critique to be posted for all participants to view as well as being used in marketing materials (i.e., the recordings may be used on social media and website platforms and any advertising).
You will be notified if a piece of yours is selected for critique so that you can plan to attend. Artist must be present live to have their piece critiqued. Therefore, please include all of the days you can be present during Critique Week (Jan. 25-29) in your email.
Images or artwork that don't meet the above guidelines may not be considered for critique. Please take care to follow the guidelines.
If your work is selected, we will notify you no later than Sunday, Jan. 24th at 6pm PST.
